Poetry is enjoyed only when you are in sync with poet's soul: Dr Sumita Misra

CLS felicitates winners of Poetry Writing Competition 

Chandigarh, July 30:  Chandigarh Literary Society (CLS) organized the prize distribution function for the winners of the CLS Annual Poetry Writing Competition, at Rotary House today.

The competition was organized earlier this year inviting online entries in English, Hindi, and Panjabi, for which  112 entries were received in all, and after being judged by a panel of judges, the winners were selected, informed Dr Sumita Misra, IAS, Chairperson of CLS and Additional Chief Secretary, Haryana. 

Dr Sumita Misra and Mr Vivek Atray, handed over the prizes to the winners in each of the three language categories, namely English, Hindi and Panjabi. 

She congratulated the participants and said that online competitions have been receiving overwhelming response since many of the upcoming and younger poets shy away from public appearance to present their creativity, but we are proud that CLS had been encouraging budding writers and poets. 

The winners of English poetry were Jahanvi Gogoi bagging the First prize, Mihika Jindal, Second, and third Third prize was shared by Gopi Kottor and Anu Girdhar, with fourth prize winner being Shiv Kumar Iyer.

For Hindi section, Neelam Narang was adjudged the First, Madhu Saxena, Second; Shivangi Shrivastava, Third; and Sandeep Rawat on the Fourth position.  

In Punjabi, the First prize was won by Sunita Uppal, Shamsheel Singh Sodhi, Second and Parneet Kaur on third position.

Prolific writer Col DS Cheema conducted the session, and many of the new members of CLS participated in the programme.
