Bhavan Students arrive back in the city after successful Cyclothon to Dandi

Chandigarh 1st October 2019: 27 students and 4 teachers of Bhavan Vidyalaya, Chandigarh who had set out on a remarkable journey, arrived back in the city today after paying homage to the Father of the Nation , Mahatma Gandhi, at Dandi.
Flagged off by Col. (Retd.) N.S. Bhadhoria from Surat, the team cycled 55 kms to Dandi, amidst much cheer and celebration by the locals.
The students and teachers laid wreaths, paying obeisance to the Mahatma on behalf of the school. Later, the team visited the eco–sensitive village of Dandi and interacted with the locals discussing the Gandhian principles and their relevance in the world of today. The students sensitized the youth about the importance of cleanliness and the need to make it a part of their everyday lives.
After this interaction, the team cycled back to Surat covering a total distance of 110 kms in one day.
This Cyclothon was a part of the 150th Birth Anniversary Celebrations of Mahatma Gandhi, which the school has been organising throughout the year. Aimed at acquainting students with Gandhian philosophy, these programmes provide them an opportunity to delve on the deeper meaning of his doctrines.
The team was welcomed back by the Senior Principal Mrs. Vineeta Arora, Vice-Principal Mrs. Suparna Bansal, students and staff members.
