Sustainable Business Model is key to Startups Funding

-       Investors advice startups on funding their enterprise

Chandigarh: Startup Accelerator Chamber of Commerce (SACC) organised an investors-startup meet at SPIC Entrepreneurship Development Centre Chandigarh IT Park here yesterday.

Some of the leading investors met the tricity startups to help them in "Decoding Startup Funding"

Around 80 startup founders from all over the city attended the panel discussion that featured some of the successful angel investors of the region.

Vineet Khurana, CEO of SACC India moderated the panel discussions with Munish Jauhar, an investor in more than 150 startups, Bobby Garg, founder of Passion Gaming, and Sanjit Singh, partner of Modular Capital, a venture capital firm.

Munish Jauhar underlined the importance for the founders to build a solid business plan, a clear vision, and a strong team. He also highlighted the need for startups to be able to demonstrate traction, a strong customer base, and a scalable business model.

Bobby Garg, the founder of Passion Gaming shared how his company founded seven years ago made use of the right opportunities at the right time and raised funding from prolific investors.

Passion gaming has its presence in Panchkula and Gurugram and employs a  team of over 150 developers.    Bobby candidly shared his challenges of building a strong technology team in a tier-2 city like Panchkula.

Sanjit Singh stressed the startup founders must be able to articulate their value proposition, the scope of the market potential, and strong knowledge of the competitive environment.

The expert panelists said that emerging trend in 2023 for funding a startup involves a clear vision of the founders, their clear path to profitability and ability to demonstrate viablility and sustainability of their business model.

The participating startups also received helpful advice on creating a strong pitch and the essential elements of a startup funding process In order to raise money for their enterprise.

SACC India's CEOm Vineet Khurana, informed that SACC is a unique voluntary organization which initiated the move to help the startups and since 2014 had been actively engaged in building a strong startup ecosystem in the region, having sensitized over 300,000 students and professionals on entrepreneurship, runs 5 startup incubators and a co-working community in northern India, incubates over 200 startups and has a large mentor pool of 300 successful entrepreneurs and investors.

स्टार्टअप एक्सेलेरेटर चैंबर ऑफ कॉमर्स (एसएसीसी) ने मंगलवार, 24 जनवरी 2023 को एसपीआईसी एंटरप्रेन्योरशिप डेवलपमेंट सेंटर चंडीगढ़ आईटी पार्क में एक कार्यक्रम आयोजित किया। "डिकोडिंग स्टार्टअप फंडिंग" नाम के इस कार्यक्रम ने चंडीगढ़ ट्राइसिटी क्षेत्र के स्टार्टअप उद्यमियों के बीच स्टार्टअप फंडिंग पर इन्वेस्टर्ज़ के दृष्टिकोण को स्पष्ट किया।

 

पूरे शहर से लगभग 80 स्टार्टअप संस्थापकों ने उत्साहपूर्वक पैनल चर्चा में भाग लिया, जिसमें क्षेत्र के कुछ सफल एंजल इन्वेस्टर्ज़ को शामिल किया गया। पैनल का संचालन एसएसीसी इंडिया के सीईओ विनीत खुराना ने किया, जिन्होंने 150 से अधिक स्टार्टअप में निवेशक श्री मुनीश जौहर, पैशन गेमिंग के संस्थापक श्री बॉबी गर्ग और मॉड्यूलर के पार्टनर श्री संजीत सिंह जैसे प्रतिष्ठित वक्ताओं से बात की।

 

जौहर ने निवेश के लिए स्टार्टअप्स के चयन पर अपने व्यक्तिगत अनुभव और अंतर्दृष्टि साँझा की। उन्होंने संस्थापकों के लिए एक ठोस बिज़्नेस प्लान, दूरदर्शिता और एक मजबूत टीम बनाने के महत्व पर जोर दिया। उन्होंने स्टार्टअप्स के लिए ट्रैक्शन, एक मजबूत कस्टमर बेस और एक स्केलेबल बिजनेस मॉडल प्रदर्शित करने में सक्षम होने की आवश्यकता पर भी प्रकाश डाला।

 

पैशन गेमिंग के संस्थापक बॉबी गर्ग ने बताया कि कैसे 7 साल पहले स्थापित उनकी कंपनी ने सही समय पर सही अवसरों का उपयोग किया और जाने माने निवेशकों से धन जुटाया।

 

पैशन गेमिंग पंचकूला व गुरुग्राम में उपस्थित है और इसमें 150 से अधिक लोगों की टीम कार्यरत है। बॉबी ने पंचकुला जैसे टीयर 2 शहर में एक मजबूत टेक्नॉलजी टीम बनाने की अपनी चुनौतियों को खुलकर साझा किया।

इन्वेस्टर्ज़ ने स्टार्टअप फंडिंग में मौजूदा रुझानों और 2023 में निवेशको की आशा पर भी चर्चा की। उन्होंने प्रोफ़िट के लिए भूख व स्टार्टअप के पास प्रैक्टिकल और टिकाऊ व्यवसाय मॉडल होने पर ज़ोर दिया।

 

प्रतिभागियों को एक दमदार पिच बनाने और निवेशकों द्वारा परिभाषित स्टार्टअप फंडिंग प्रक्रिया के आवश्यक प्रॉसेस के बारे में उपयोगी सलाह भी मिली। धन जुटाने के लिए, संजीत ने कहा कि स्टार्टअप के वैल्यू प्रॉपज़िशन, मार्केट पोटेंशीयल और प्रतिस्पर्धी माहौल को स्पष्ट करने में सक्षम होना बहुत महत्वपूर्ण है।

 

कुल मिलाकर, यह इवेंट काफ़ी सराहा गया और इसने चंडीगढ़ क्षेत्र के उद्यमियों के लिए मूल्यवान सीख और नेटवर्किंग के अवसर प्रदान किए। कार्यक्रम का समापन सभी स्पीकर्ज़ व संस्थापकों के बीच नेटवर्किंग हाई टी के साथ हुआ जिसमें लोग एक-दूसरे से जुड़े।

 

 

स्टार्टअप इकोसिस्टम में एसएसीसी इंडिया की भूमिका के बारे में बात करते हुए इसके सीईओ विनीत खुराना ने बताया किया कि एसएसीसी एक वॉलुंटेरी  संगठन है जिसे 2014 में इस क्षेत्र में एक इंक्लूसिव स्टार्टअप इकोसिस्टम बनाने के लिए शुरू किया गया था। अपनी विभिन्न पहलों के ज़रिए, एसएसीसी ने 3 लाख से अधिक छात्रों और पेशेवरों को स्वरोज़गार व एनतरेपरेनेरशिप पर जागरूक किया है। एसएसीसी उत्तरी भारत में 5 स्टार्टअप इनक्यूबेटर और एक को वर्किंग  चलाता है जिसके द्वारा 200 से अधिक स्टार्टअप को इनक्यूबेट किया गया है व 300 सफल उद्यमियों और निवेशकों का एक बड़ा मेंटॉर पूल बनाया गया है। उन्होंने उल्लेख किया कि एसएसीसी नियमित रूप से इस तरह के आयोजनों के द्वारा स्टार्टअप समुदाय को मजबूत कर रहा है।

CLS Celebrates Hindi Poetry

Chandigarh, 14 January:  Chandigarh Literary Society (CLS) organized an event of Hindi poetry at Haryana Panchayat Bhavan, Sector 28, here today.

CLS Chairperson Dr. Sumita Misra moved a step ahead to provide this opportunity to the CLS members to recite their Hindi poetry.  Dr Sumita Misra in her opening remarks said that Hindi poetry is very close to her heart and the amount of Hindi literature that is emerging from this region is amazing.

Twenty celebrated poets participated in this evening of Hindi poetry which included Abha Joshi Sharma, Dr. Aditya Rattan, Alka Kansra, Ashok Wadhera, Dilpreet Kaur Chahal, Jatin Salwan, Lily Swarn, Neelam Narang, Nishant Shrivastav, Rajan Chopra, Rajni Pathak Rajinder Sarho, Reeta Rana, Rekha Mittal, Romika Wadhera, Sarika Dhupar, Seema Gupta, Shivam Chauhan, Dr. Sumit Madan and Dr. Vinay Bansal.

The programme was hosted by Ms Shally Vij and coordinated by Ms. Rekha Mittal.

This is the beginning of the year 2023 and many more such lively literary events are in the offing, said Dr Sumita Misra.

चंडीगढ़, 14 जनवरी: चंडीगढ़ लिटरेरी सोसाइटी (सीएलएस) ने आज यहां हरियाणा पंचायत भवन, सेक्टर 28 में हिंदी कविता का एक कार्यक्रम आयोजित किया।
सीएलएस की चेयरपर्सन डॉ. सुमिता मिश्रा ने सीएलएस सदस्यों को अपनी हिंदी कविता सुनाने का अवसर प्रदान करने के लिए एक कदम आगे बढ़ाया। डॉ. सुमिता मिश्रा ने अपनी प्रारंभिक टिप्पणी में कहा कि हिंदी कविता उनके दिल के बहुत करीब है और इस क्षेत्र से हिंदी साहित्य की जो मात्रा उभर कर सामने आ रही है वह अद्भुत है।
हिंदी कविता की इस शाम में बीस प्रसिद्ध कवियों ने भाग लिया जिसमें आभा जोशी शर्मा, डॉ. आदित्य रतन, अलका कंसरा, अशोक वढेरा, दिलप्रीत कौर चहल, जतिन सलवान, लिली स्वर्ण, नीलम नारंग, निशांत श्रीवास्तव, राजन चोपड़ा, रजनी पाठक राजिंदर सरहो शामिल हैं। , रीता राणा, रेखा मित्तल, रोमिका वढेरा, सारिका धूपर, सीमा गुप्ता, शिवम चौहान, डॉ. सुमित मदान और डॉ. विनय बंसल।
कार्यक्रम की मेजबानी सुश्री शैली विज ने की और समन्वयन सुश्री रेखा मित्तल ने किया।
डॉ सुमिता मिश्रा ने कहा कि यह वर्ष 2023 की शुरुआत है और इस तरह के कई और जीवंत साहित्यिक आयोजन होने वाले हैं।

An author must undo the lies and create a voice: Manju Jaidka

'When Cato Played Cupid', a book of short stories by Dr Manju Jaidka Released.

The prolific writer, educator, Fulbright scholar, and internationally acclaimed author of nearly two dozen academic and fiction books, Dr. Manju Jaidka's latest collection of short stories was released here today at the Central State Library.

Chancellor and Vice Chancellor of Shoolini University, Dr P.K. Khosla and Prof. Atul Khosla, noted author and ex-IAS officer Vivek Atray, Col. D.S.Cheema, Librarian of State Library Dr. Neeza Singh, along  with many noted writers and lovers of literature were present on the occasion.

ManjuJ Jaidka in conversation with senior journalist, columnist, and political analyst Vipin Pubby brought out the inspirations and the triggers that made her right such engaging and human interest stories with most of them inspired by true life events.

The anthology contains twelve short stories that capture shades of human emotions and life's realities that led her to pen down into engaging narratives.

Vipin Pubby brought to the fore the story of a senior police officer who molested a young girl and did his best to bury the crime through pressure tactics and harassment of girl's family and got away with a mere six months imprisonment. 

These are the moments of catharsis for a writer, Manju said, when you find yourself helpless in the face of social injustice, the writer has the responsibility to unveil such stories of human deprivation and injustice. 

There are stories inspired by real-life incidents like that of 12 migrant labourers losing their lives just a few distances away from their home village, as also some light-hearted ones like the title story of a dog named Cato, "When Cato Played Cupid".

Dr. Manju Jaidka shared that her next book is a novel on the Shoolini University campus, where she heads the Department of Liberal Arts.  "I have lots of stories simmering within me that emerge out of my daily busy work schedules and interactions, and at some stage, they precipitate into a poem, play, a short story, or a novel," she remarked.
