Installation of Interact Club of Sri Aurobindo School held

A new team of Interact Club of Sri Aurobindo School of Integral Education was installed here today by its sponsoring Rotary Club of Chandigarh's president Rtn Surinder Paul Kaur.
Vani Adalakha took over the reins from her predecessor Jagriti Singh.  The new team includes Nakul Bisht, Vice President, Eshmeet Singh Secretary, Raj Pratap Singh, Joint Secretary, Bhuvi as Treasurer, Anshika as Sergeant at Arms, along with Directors Nikita Saini,  Muskan, Bhumika, Verisha Tagra, and Veronica Tagra.
Rtn Pres Surinder Paul Kaur motivated the young Interactors to work for the betterment of society with the virtue of leadership, forbearance and benevolence.
Former world president of Rotary International Rtn Rajendra K. Saboo complimented the school management for preserving the Indian cultural values amongst students and preparing them as socially conscious citizens.
Earlier the trees were planted in the school premises under the supervision of Prof. Rajnish Wattas of Tree Loving Society.
School Chairman Arvind Mehan applauded the efforts made by the students and encouraged them to develop their personalities through participation in projects for the good of the society, and by remaining conscious of the world around them.
School Principal Garima Bhardwaj informed that the School is celebrating next month for inter-school competitions like shloka recitals, Spell-Bee competition, Auro Music Jam and shall also be participating in TB-free Chandigarh project initiated by Rotary Club of Chandigarh.

Connect to setup 50 more customer care centres in Punjab


One of the largest broadband service provider in Punjab, Connect Broadband, is rolling out 50 more customer care centres in the next two months.

Connect has setup 100 such centres over a period of time in various key cities of Punjab, and intends to provide more robust customer support in other cities too with 50 to be setup within two months.
Tricity shall have 10 more such centres from current mere four, informed Connect spokesperson.
Nearly 60 percent of the customers get their services from the local Connect office, and more centres would get them easy accessibility close by whether it is paying their bills or recharging, or finding out more about various other products and services offered by Connect.
These Connect centres are being setup to service the clients, and especially give them access to converting their copper landlines to fiber optics.
According to company officials, Connect has more than one lakh home passes on fiber optic connections, and intends to bring two lakh more home passes on fiber technology that would give them higher speed and bandwidth to enjoy internet browsing, videos and livecastings.
Setup on a franchise model, these centres would become nodal points for customer service and giving them access to knowledge base which can help anyone benefit from technology.

UT Advisor attends Rotary Club Installation function

Chandigarh, July 9:  Rotarians are champions in helping others, said Advisor to the Administrator UT Chandigarh, Mr Manoj Kumar Parida, while addressing Rotary Club of Chandigarh at their installation meet at CII here yesterday.

Former Chief Commissioner of Income Tax and Ombudsman of Punjab Electricity, Rtn Surinder Paul Kaur, took up the leadership of the Club for one year from her predecessor Rtn Amrit Pal Singh Dhiman.

Mr Parida commended outgoing President Amrit Pal for undertaking numerous projects in the community worth over Rs.2 crores including renovating the toilet block in cremation ground, imitating the Health Education Centre, help to Pulwama martyrs, blood donation van, and sweets worth Rs.8 lakh for jawans on borders, etc.

Looking at these stellar achievements, Chandigarh Administration be too willing to support any endeavour of Rotary Club Chandigarh, he said.

He also commended Rtn P.J. Singh and his wife Dr Rajinder Kaur for contributing USD 60,000, last year, and contributed another USD 10,000 on the occasion to The Rotary Foundation, and Mr Parida said that giving for others comes back to you one way or the other.

He also inaugurated the new Back-to-School project for the next Rotary year which is funded by a philanthropist Mr Satbir Singh Kohli, who created corpus of Rs.10 lakh last year and announced Rs.1 lakh addition during the function, so that the brilliant children who drop out of school because of lack of funds should be able to resume their studies.

Two students of government schools were presented the bag of books, stationery, uniform, and cheques for their fee on the occasion.

President Surinder Paul Kaur listed out the projects she has planned for the year including completion of Health Education Center, water harvesting, environmental care, literacy, TB-free Chandigarh, club foot treatment,

Past Rotary International President Rajendra K. Saboo and Past Rotary International Director Yash Pal Das, Past District Governor Kawal Bedi, spoke on the occasion.

The new Board of Directors of the Club for 2019-20, included Vice Chairman Reema Dhiman, Secretary Abha Sharma, Treasurer Anil Khanna, Joint Secretary Karan S. Bhandari, Director Club Service Charanjit Singh, Director Vocational Service Neenu Vij, Director Community Service Gurvinder S. Saggu, Director International Service Praveen Aggarwal, Director Youth Service Jatinder Kapur, Sergeant-at-Arms Kewal Seth.

Past RI President Rajendra K. Saboo, PDG Kawal Bedi, PDG Madhukar Malhotra and IPDG Praveen Goyal, are also the members of the new Board.
