Rotary's world literacy day scholarships for needy students

 

Chandigarh, September 08: On the occasion of the World Literacy Day, Rotary Club of Chandigarh gave away scholarships to 34 students at a function organised at the Rotary House, Sector 18A, Chandigarh.

 

Rajendra K. Saboo, former world President of Rotary International was the chief guest on the occasion who gave away the scholarships.

 

President of the Club, Anil Chadda informed that nearly Rs.3.80 lakh worth of scholarships have been disbursed today to the students in need.

 

Twenty deserving students of Plus-1 and eight of Plus-2 from various government schools of the city received Rs.10,000 each, for their uniforms and other needs, Anil Chadda informed.

 

The scholarships for these meritorious yet economically-challenged  students were sponsored by philanthropist Mr Satbir Singh Kohli in memory of his late father S. Tarlochan Singh, to perpetuate his legacy of supporting the needy children throughout his life.   

 

In another literacy initiative by the Club for which Rs.1 lakh, have been spent to support the tuition fee of six girl students pursuing under-graduate studies in the vocational subjects.

 

Two girl students from the Longowal Group of Colleges, and four from Sri Guru Gobind College, Chandigarh were selected for their vocational programmes, for which Rotary Club of Chandigarhy has contributed 50 percent of their tuition fee, while the respective educational institutions have contributed 25 percent and the remaining 25 percent by the students themselves.

 

With our limited resources we continue to reach out to the students in need with scholarships and in-kind assistance from time to time, said Pres. Anil Chadda. 


जरूरतमंद छात्रों के लिए रोटरी का विश्व साक्षरता दिवस  पर छात्रवृत्ति

चंडीगढ़, 08 सितंबर: विश्व साक्षरता दिवस के अवसर पर रोटरी क्लब ऑफ चंडीगढ़ ने रोटरी हाउस, सेक्टर 18ए, चंडीगढ़ में आयोजित एक समारोह में 34 छात्रों को छात्रवृत्ति प्रदान की।

इस अवसर पर रोटरी इंटरनेशनल के पूर्व विश्व अध्यक्ष राजेंद्र के. साबू मुख्य अतिथि थे जिन्होंने छात्रवृत्तियां प्रदान कीं।

क्लब के अध्यक्ष अनिल चड्डा ने बताया कि आज जरूरतमंद विद्यार्थियों को लगभग 3.80 लाख रुपये की छात्रवृत्ति वितरित की गई है।

अनिल चड्डा ने बताया कि शहर के विभिन्न सरकारी स्कूलों के प्लस-1 के 20 और प्लस-2 के आठ योग्य छात्रों को उनकी वर्दी और अन्य जरूरतों के लिए प्रत्येक बच्चे को 10,000 रुपये का छात्रवृति प्रदान की ।

इन मेधावी लेकिन आर्थिक रूप से अक्षम छात्रों के लिए छात्रवृत्तियाँ परोपकारी श्री सतबीर सिंह कोहली द्वारा उनके दिवंगत पिता एस. तरलोचन सिंह की याद में प्रायोजित की गई थीं, ताकि जीवन भर जरूरतमंद बच्चों का समर्थन करने की उनकी विरासत को कायम रखा जा सके।

क्लब द्वारा एक और साक्षरता पहल में, जिसके लिए व्यावसायिक विषयों में स्नातक अध्ययन कर रही छह छात्राओं की ट्यूशन फीस का समर्थन करने के लिए 1 लाख रुपये खर्च किए गए हैं।

लोंगोवाल ग्रुप ऑफ कॉलेज की दो छात्राओं और श्री गुरु गोबिंद कॉलेज, चंडीगढ़ की चार छात्राओं को उनके व्यावसायिक कार्यक्रमों के लिए चुना गया जिसके लिए रोटरी क्लब ऑफ चंडीगढ़ ने अपनी और से ट्यूशन फीस का 50 प्रतिशत योगदान दिया है, जबकि संबंधित शैक्षणिक संस्थानों ने 25 प्रतिशत का योगदान और शेष 25 प्रतिशत स्वयं छात्रों द्वारा दिया गया ।

रोटरी प्रेजिडेंट अनिल चड्डा ने कहा, अपने सीमित संसाधनों के साथ हम समय-समय पर जरूरतमंद छात्रों तक छात्रवृत्ति और अन्य प्रकार की सहायता पहुंचाते रहते हैं।

-       Rotary Club Chandigarh gifts 200 apheresis kits for use of economically challenged

Chandigarh, 11 August 2023:  Rotary Club of Chandigarh 200 single-user apheresis kits to the Rotary and Blood Bank Society Resource Centre in Sector 37, here today.

Past Rotary International President Rajendra K. Saboo handed over the kits used for extracting platelets from blood, to the Chairman of the Centre, Arun  Nehru.

These 200 kits costing about Rs.16.6 lakh have been made possible through the efforts of Rtn. PJ Singh, managing director of the IPF Vikram India Pvt Ltd, which contributed the amount through its CSR funds.

With the availability of the kits, the economically challenged can obtain the platelets at 50 percent of the cost, informed Club President Anil Chadda. 

The blood centre was established with the joint collaboration of Rotary Club Chandigarh and the Blood Bank Society, which has become today a centre of excellence, meeting the growing demand of blood and its units to the hospitals and nursing homes in the tricity.

The Apheresis facility for providing much-in-demand platelets to the critical patients was added at the Centre on 1^st October last year.

Rotaractors from  various Rotaract Clubs also donated blood on this occasion. 

On this occasion the 89^th birthday of former world president of Rotary International Rajendra K. Saboo was also celebrated who had been instrumental in launching numerous humanitarian projects including the establishment of the blood centre, Rotary House, free heart surgeries for the poor children, and also international medical missions which also comleted 25 years of its commencement.

चंडीगढ़, 11 अगस्त 2023: रोटरी क्लब ऑफ चंडीगढ़ ने आज यहां सेक्टर 37 में रोटरी और ब्लड बैंक सोसाइटी रिसोर्स सेंटर में 200 एकल-उपयोगकर्ता एफेरेसिस किट वितरित कीं।
रोटरी इंटरनेशनल के पूर्व अध्यक्ष राजेंद्र के साबू ने रक्त से प्लेटलेट निकालने के लिए इस्तेमाल होने वाली किट सेंटर के चेयरमैन  अरुण  नेहरू को सौंपी।

लगभग 16.6 लाख रुपये की लागत वाली ये 200 किटें पीजे सिंह, आईपीएफ विक्रम इंडिया प्राइवेट लिमिटेड के प्रबंध निदेशक के प्रयासों से संभव हो पाई हैं जिन्होंने अपने सीएसआर फंड के माध्यम से राशि का योगदान दिया।

ब्लड सेंटर की स्थापना रोटरी क्लब चंडीगढ़ और ब्लड बैंक सोसाइटी के संयुक्त सहयोग से की गई थी, जो आज ट्राइसिटी के अस्पतालों और नर्सिंग होम में रक्त और इसकी इकाइयों की बढ़ती मांग को पूरा करते हुए उत्कृष्टता का केंद्र बन गया है।

इस अवसर पर विभिन्न रोटरेक्ट क्लबों के रोटरेक्टर्स ने रक्तदान किया।

गंभीर रोगियों को अत्यधिक मांग वाले प्लेटलेट्स प्रदान करने के लिए एफेरेसिस सुविधा पिछले साल 1 अक्टूबर को केंद्र में जोड़ी गई थी।
इस अवसर पर रोटरी इंटरनेशनल के पूर्व विश्व अध्यक्ष राजेंद्र के. साबू का 89वां जन्मदिन भी मनाया गया, जिन्होंने रक्त केंद्र, रोटरी हाउस की स्थापना, गरीब बच्चों के लिए मुफ्त हृदय शल्य चिकित्सा सहित कई मानवीय परियोजनाओं को शुरू करने में महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका निभाई थी। अंतर्राष्ट्रीय चिकित्सा मिशन ने भी अपनी शुरुआत के 25 वर्ष पूरे कर लिए हैं।

Chandigarh:  Learning foreign language can open newer career opportunities, said 17 year old Nyrah Dhariwal, a student of Singapore American School in Singapore.

She was addressing the students of Sri Guru Harkrishan Sr.Sec. Public School in the city.

It not only activates your neuro system to make you a better problem solver, but gives the students of humanities better career options within and outside the country, she said.

Nyrah speaks six languages and said that arts students normally feel at a loss while pursuing further studies abroad, whereas expertise in any foreign language gets preference in foreign universities.

She said at our age it is easier to learn any new language while you are studying.

The Principal of the school Charanpreet Kaur, later commended her confidence and presentation skill, and felicitated Nyrah Dhariwal.

17 year old inspires students to learn foreign languages.
Mohali: Seventeen year old student at Singapore American School, Nyrah Dhariwal, laid the importance of learning foreign languages to explore global career opportunities.
Nyrah, a resident of Chandigarh studying in Singapore, chose to address the students of Class 11 and 12 at Mata Sahib Kaur Public School at Sohana today.
Nyrah who intends to pursue international relations in US, can speak six languages, and said that the students of humanities can explore newer career opportunities abroad by learning any foreign language.
Though there is parental pressure to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering and maths, there is equally lucrative opportunities available for the students of humanities if they learn foreign language.
She said that Indian students living in multi-cultural and multi-language environment are capable of assimilating themselves in foreign cultures especially when they know more than one foreign languages, and it is easier for them to get admission in foreign universities.

मोहाली: सिंगापुर अमेरिकन स्कूल की सत्रह वर्षीय छात्रा, न्यारा धारीवाल ने वैश्विक करियर के अवसरों का लाभ उठाने हेतु विदेशी भाषाओं को सीखने का महत्व बताया।
सिंगापुर में पढ़ रही चंडीगढ़ निवासी न्यारा ने आज सोहाना में माता साहिब कौर पब्लिक स्कूल में कक्षा 11 और 12 के छात्रों को संबोधित किया।
अमेरिका में अंतरराष्ट्रीय संबंधों को आगे बढ़ाने का इरादा रखने वाली न्यारा छह भाषाएं बोल सकती हैं और उन्होंने कहा कि मानविकी के छात्र कोई भी विदेशी भाषा सीखकर विदेश में करियर के नए अवसर तलाश सकते हैं।
यद्यपि विज्ञान, प्रौद्योगिकी, इंजीनियरिंग और गणित में करियर बनाने के लिए माता-पिता का दबाव होता  है, लेकिन मानविहोता के छात्रों के लिए विदेशी भाषा सीखने पर समान रूप से आकर्षक अवसर उपलब्ध हैं।
उन्होंने कहा कि बहु-सांस्कृतिक और बहु-भाषी वातावरण में रहने वाले भारतीय छात्र विदेशी संस्कृतियों में खुद को आत्मसात करने में सक्षम हैं, खासकर जब वे एक से अधिक विदेशी भाषाओं को जानते हैं, और उनके लिए विदेशी विश्वविद्यालयों में प्रवेश पाना भी आसान होता है।

Begin the year with "Love All" says former Rotary's world president Kalyan Banerjee
- Anil Chadda installed as new Rotary Club Chandigarh's President

at the installation meeting of the Rotary Club of Chandigarh, former world president of Rotary International, the third Indian to hold the position in 2011-12, Kalyan Banerjee, asked the Rotarians to begin their new Rotary year in the spirit of Wimbledon.
Kalyan Banerjee who was at Wimbledon was called to the city by his senior world president of Rotary International Rajendra K. Saboo, to be the chief guest at the installation function, compared the beginning of the Rotary year in the same spirit of tennis. 

Every game in tennis, he said, begins with Love All, and it is this spirit which should continue in all our endeavours. 

He called upon the Rotarians to put emphasis on mental health since Indian population has been vastly affected by the pandemic and even the youngsters in schools and colleges are under extreme stress due to the advent of technology. 

Technology and AI is another area, which should be addressed by Rotary, he remarked. 

Rtn. Anil Chadda, a chartered accountant, received the collar of presidentship from his predecessor Rtn Vinod Kapoor, and said that the Club has already in the process of setting up a Human Milk Bank in Mohali for which Rs.31 lakh have been contributed. 

He informed that very soon single use bags for the aphresis machine in the Rotary and Blood Bank Society Resource Centre in Sector 37, shall be provided at a cost of Rs.16.6 lakh. 

The Club shall also initiate a special programme for the senior citizens, to commemorate the 70 years of Chandigarh, and 65 years of the Rotary Club of Chandigarh. 

Past RI President R.K. Saboo recalled how Rotary began its journey by donating a mortuary van in 1961, and the club has given to the city two chief justices of India and six supreme court judges.

The outgoing President Vinod Kapoor handed over the collar of the club presidentship at a ceremony held at CII here today.
The meeting began with the invocation by the students of Bhavan Vidyalaya, Sector 27, Chandigarh.
Anil Chadda while sharing his vision for the year 2023-24 informed that the club has already signed an MoU for supply of equipment worth Rs.31 lakh for the Rotary Milk Bank at Mohali.
The Club shall also be handing over aspheresis bags to the Rotary Blood Bank Society Resource Centre worth Rs.16 lakh, which shall soon be handed over, besides creating special mental health counseling initiatives in various government and private schools in the tricity, start awareness campaign on breast feeding, organize blood donation camps, and special programmes for senior citizens.
Former world president of Rotary International Kalyan Banerjee from Vapi, Gujarat was the chief guest on the occasion who said that Rotary should undertake projects to address mental health issues that have escalated post-Covid in all sections of the society. He also asked Rotarians to address the challenges of AI.
Former world president of Rotary International 1991-92 Rajendra K. Saboo complimented the new team for starting the year with meaningful projects and said that the new team under Anil Chadda would 'Create Hope for the World', the needy and the destitute in our community.
On this occasion the club's coffee table book listing out its various projects in the city was also released by the chief guest Kalyan Banerjee.

Rotary to setup Human Milk Bank in Mohali

- MoU signed by Rotary Club Chandigarh and Dr B.R.Ambedkar State Institute of Medical Sciences, Mohali 

Mohali, 13 July:  Rotary Club of Chandigarh and the Dr B R Ambedkar State institute of Medical Sciences, AIMS Mohali signed an memorandum of understanding here today to setup a not-for-profit human milk bank.

The MoU was signed by Dr Bhavneet Bharti, Director of the AIMS and Rtn Anil Chadda, President of Rotary Club Chandigarh to setup this unique facility.

Rtn Anil Chadda informed that this would be a boon to pre-term born babies that require human milk, and we have named this project as Rotary Hope Project.

He informed that a philanthropist from Yamunanagar Subhash Garg who is a past district governor in Rotary has contributed Rs. 31 Lakh for setting up the plant and equipment for this project in Mohali.

Dr. Bhavneet Bharti informed that there is a dire need for human milk especially for the preterm babies (born before 37 weeks of gestation) and their number is believed to be 3.5 million every year. 

In this region, we too have similar requirements because donor human milk is protective against many serious diseases like neonatal  sepsis, neonatal necrotizing enterocolitis( NNEC), Dr. Bharti said.

The milk is obtained from donor mothers voluntarily, which will be preserved and pasteurised to be used within three months, said Dr. Bharti.

Dr. Bharti who herself joined the Rotary Club Chandigarh shared the idea with the Rotarians who came forward and organized a CSR contribution of a corporate body to fund the setting up of the plant.

She informed that the total project cost is about Rs.1 crore for which a seperate block in the institute has already been readied and the equipment will be installed shortly and we hope to open it up within a month or so.

Rotary Club of Chandigarh is in 65 years of its existence in the city and has to its credit setting up of Rotary PGI Serai, state-of-the-art blood bank in Sector 37, a Rotary Vocational Training Centre in Sector 18, international dolls museum in Sector 23, besides having done over 700 free heart surgeries of children, informed Rtn Pres. Anil Chadda.

रोटरी ह्यूमन मिल्क बैंक जल्द ही मोहाली में

मोहाली, 13 जुलाई: रोटरी क्लब ऑफ चंडीगढ़ और डॉ. बी आर अंबेडकर स्टेट इंस्टीट्यूट ऑफ मेडिकल साइंसेज, एआईएमएस मोहाली ने एक गैर-लाभकारी मानव दूध बैंक स्थापित करने के लिए आज यहां एक समझौता ज्ञापन पर हस्ताक्षर किए।

इस अनूठी सुविधा की स्थापना के लिए एआईएमएस के निदेशक डॉ भवनीत भारती और रोटरी क्लब चंडीगढ़ के अध्यक्ष आरटीएन अनिल चड्डा ने समझौता ज्ञापन पर हस्ताक्षर किए।

रोटरी चंडीगढ़ के प्रधान अनिल चड्डा ने बताया कि यह सुविधा जन्मे बच्चों के लिए एक वरदान होगा, जिन्हें मानव दूध की आवश्यकता होती है, और हमने इस परियोजना को रोटरी होप प्रोजेक्ट का नाम दिया है।

उन्होंने बताया कि यमुनानगर के एक परोपकारी व्यक्ति सुभाष गर्ग जो रोटरी में पूर्व डिस्ट्रिक्ट गवर्नर रह चुके हैं, ने मोहाली में इस परियोजना के लिए संयंत्र और उपकरण स्थापित करने के लिए ३१ लाख रुपये का योगदान दिया है।  

डॉ. भवनीत भारती ने बताया कि विशेष रूप से समय से पहले जन्मे बच्चों (गर्भधारण के 37 सप्ताह से पहले पैदा हुए) के लिए मानव दूध की सख्त जरूरत है और उनकी संख्या हर साल 35 लाख मानी जाती है।

डॉ. भारती ने कहा, इस क्षेत्र में, हमारी भी ऐसी ही आवश्यकता है क्योंकि एक अध्ययन के अनुसार, एनआईसीयू [नवजात गहन देखभाल इकाई] में रहने वाले 30 से 50 प्रतिशत शिशुओं को दाता मानव दूध की आवश्यकता होती है।

डॉ. भवनीत भारती ने बताया कि विशेष रूप से समय से पहले जन्मे बच्चों (गर्भधारण के 37 सप्ताह से पहले पैदा हुए) के लिए मानव दूध की आवश्यकता होती है और उनकी संख्या प्रति वर्ष 35 लाख मानी जाती है।

इस क्षेत्र में, हमारी भी ऐसी ही आवश्यकता है क्योंकि मानव दूध नवजात कई गंभीर बीमारियों से बचाता है, डॉ. भारती ने कहा।

डॉ. भारती ने कहा, दूध दाता माताओं से स्वेच्छा से प्राप्त किया जाता है, जिसे तीन महीने के भीतर उपयोग के लिए संरक्षित और पास्चुरीकृत किया जाएगा।

डॉ. भारती, जो स्वयं रोटरी क्लब चंडीगढ़ से जुड़ी हैं,  ने रोटेरियन्स के साथ यह विचार साझा किया, जो आगे आए और प्लांट की स्थापना के लिए एक कॉर्पोरेट निकाय के सीएसआर योगदान का आयोजन किया।

उन्होंने बताया कि इस रोटरी प्रोजेक्ट होप के लिए भवन पहले ही तैयार हो चुका है और उपकरण शीघ्र ही स्थापित कर दिए जाएंगे और हमें उम्मीद है कि इसे एक महीने के भीतर खोल दिया जाएगा।

रोटरी क्लब ऑफ चंडीगढ़ ने शहर में अपने अस्तित्व के 65 वर्ष पूरे कर लिए हैं और शहर में कई सुविधाएँ प्रदान की हैं जैसे की  रोटरी पीजीआई सेराई, सेक्टर 37 में अत्याधुनिक ब्लड बैंक, सेक्टर 18 में रोटरी वोकेशनल ट्रेनिंग सेंटर,  सेक्टर 23 में अंतरराष्ट्रीय डॉल्स म्यूजियम आदि  की स्थापना की है। इसके इलावा रोटरी चंडीगढ़ ने 700 से अधिक बच्चों की मुफ्त हृदय सर्जरी करवा चूका है.

ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਯਮੁਨਾਨਗਰ ਦੇ ਇੱਕ ਪਰਉਪਕਾਰੀ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਸੁਭਾਸ਼ ਗਰਗ ਜੋ ਰੋਟਰੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਾਬਕਾ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਗਵਰਨਰ ਰਹਿ ਚੁੱਕੇ ਹਨ, ਨੇ 10 ਲੱਖ ਰੁਪਏ ਦਾ ਯੋਗਦਾਨ ਪਾਇਆ ਹੈ। ਮੁਹਾਲੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਸ ਪ੍ਰਾਜੈਕਟ ਲਈ ਪਲਾਂਟ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਜ਼ੋ-ਸਾਮਾਨ ਦੀ ਸਥਾਪਨਾ ਲਈ 31 ਲੱਖ ਰੁਪਏ।
ਡਾ. ਭਵਨੀਤ ਭਾਰਤੀ ਨੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਮਨੁੱਖੀ ਦੁੱਧ ਦੀ ਸਖ਼ਤ ਲੋੜ ਹੈ, ਖਾਸ ਤੌਰ 'ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰੀਟਰਮ ਬੱਚਿਆਂ (37 ਹਫ਼ਤਿਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਜਨਮ ਲੈਣ ਵਾਲੇ) ਲਈ ਅਤੇ ਹਰ ਸਾਲ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਗਿਣਤੀ 3.5 ਮਿਲੀਅਨ ਮੰਨੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।

ਡਾ. ਭਵਨੀਤ ਭਾਰਤੀ ਨੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਮਨੁੱਖੀ ਦੁੱਧ ਦੀ ਲੋੜ ਖਾਸ ਤੌਰ 'ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰੀਟਰਮ ਬੱਚਿਆਂ (37 ਹਫ਼ਤਿਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਜੰਮੇ) ਲਈ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਗਿਣਤੀ ਪ੍ਰਤੀ ਸਾਲ 3.5 ਮਿਲੀਅਨ ਮੰਨੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।

ਡਾਕਟਰ ਭਾਰਤੀ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਦੁੱਧ ਦਾਨੀ ਮਾਵਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਸਵੈ-ਇੱਛਾ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਅਤ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਤਿੰਨ ਮਹੀਨਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਲਈ ਪੇਸਚਰਾਈਜ਼ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ।

ਉਨ•ਾਂ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਇਸ ਰੋਟਰੀ ਪ੍ਰੋਜੈਕਟ ਹੋਪ ਦੀ ਇਮਾਰਤ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਹੀ ਤਿਆਰ ਹੋ ਚੁੱਕੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਜਲਦ ਹੀ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਥਾਪਿਤ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਅਸੀਂ ਉਮੀਦ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਇੱਕ ਮਹੀਨੇ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਅੰਦਰ ਖੋਲ੍ਹ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ।

New Rotary year begins with blood donation camp

 

Chandigarh 1 July: 

At the start of the new Rotary Year world over, Rotary Club of Chandigarh began its year by organising a blood donation camp. 

35 units of blood were collected at the camp held at Rotary and Blood Bank Society Resource Centre, in Sector 37 today. 

Rtn. Anil Chadda, a chartered accountant, who has taken over as the Club President for 2023-24 today, expressed his gratitude to Rotarians and Vishal Puri, chairman of the ICAI Chandigarh Chapter for participating in this noble cause.

He said that blood is the only medicine that a human can give to another human being to save lives. 

 

The theme of the new Rotary year, Rtn Chadda said is "Create Hope in the World", and every act of kindness and selfless service brings hope to the people in need.

रोटरी के नए वर्ष की शुरुआत रक्तदान शिविर से हुई     चंडीगढ़ 1 जुलाई:  दुनिया भर में नए रोटरी वर्ष की शुरुआत में, रोटरी क्लब ऑफ चंडीगढ़ ने इंस्टीट्यूट ऑफ चार्टर्ड अकाउंटेंट्स ऑफ इंडिया चंडीगढ़ चैप्टर के सहयोग से एक रक्तदान शिविर का आयोजन करके अपने वर्ष की शुरुआत की।     आज सेक्टर 37 स्थित रोटरी एंड ब्लड बैंक सोसाइटी रिसोर्स सेंटर में आयोजित शिविर में 35 यूनिट रक्त एकत्र किया गया।    आरटीएन. चार्टर्ड अकाउंटेंट अनिल चड्डा, जिन्होंने आज 2023-24 के लिए क्लब अध्यक्ष का पदभार संभाला है, ने इस नेक काम में भाग लेने के लिए रोटेरियन्स और आईसीएआई चंडीगढ़ चैप्टर के अध्यक्ष विशाल पुरी का आभार व्यक्त किया।    उन्होंने कहा कि खून ही वह दवा है जिसे एक इंसान दूसरे इंसान को देकर उसकी जान बचा सकता है।     आरटीएन चड्डा ने कहा, नए रोटरी वर्ष की थीम "दुनिया में आशा पैदा करें" है, और दयालुता और निस्वार्थ सेवा का हर कार्य जरूरतमंद लोगों के लिए आशा लाता है।

"I wanted to cleanse the toxin from cricket", says Neeraj Kumar author of 'Cop in Cricket'

 

Chandigarh,  June 9, 2023:

One of the most respected former Delhi Commissioner of Police and BCCI's chief of anti-corruption, and author of 'Cop in Cricket' Neeraj Kumar, IPS (retd) was in the city on an invitation of the Novel Bunch at the IT Park here today.

He was in conversation with another cricket enthusiast and cardiologist Dr. H.K. Bali who probed into the book's corruption in cricket.

I had seen the working of BCCI inside out whose officials had least interest in cricket and being an avid cricket fan myself, I have tried to expose the sheer apathy towards the sportsmen, the spectators, and the game which pained me, Neeraj Kumar said.

Neeraj Kumar  served in the BCCI's Anti Corruption Unit from June 2015 to May 2018, that won him deep respect from the young cricketers whom he accompanied to various national and international cricket tours, but also exposed the maladies, what he calls the 'dark side' of cricket,  that affect the cricket administration.

Betting is just a tip of the iceberg, but the malady goes deep down with the funds being misappropriated at the level of state cricket associations, and nepotism in selection of young players, etc., though he had to also to look out for and prevent any match fixing.

Hardeep Chandpuri of Novel Bunch introduced the author while exIAS officer, TEDx speaker and author Vivek Atray and himself a cricketer, concluded the session.

Chandigarh, 14 May: Five teachers from Punjab from Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, English & Social Studies, were selected for the Malti Gyanpeeth Puruskar 2023, a prestigious school teachers award being given to innovative and brilliant teachers since 2013.

Nominations were invited and after initial scrutiny, 23 teachers were shortlisted for another round of written tests, interview with a panel of subject experts, and final interview with a high-profile jury members here yesterday at the PHD House.
The five winners are Romani Ahuja and Harpreet Kaur from GSS Smart School, Ludhiana, Rakesh Kumar from GSS School, Mehlan, Distt Sangrur, Manjeet Singh from Govt High School, Khandebad, Distt Sangrur and Somdatta Bhattacharya from Jain Bharti Mrigawati Vidyalaya, Delhi.

Each of the winners shall be recognized at a public function in New Delhi, on 29th May, comprising of a Robe of Honour, a citation, and Rupees one lakh.

President of the MMM Foundation Manoj Singhal said that the Malti Gyanpeeth Puruskar were instituted in 2013 by the MMS Foundation, to recognize and encourage excellence in education, in honour of late Smt. Malti Mohinder Singh Syngle, an eminent educationist, doyen of women empowerment, and one of the first women of Punjab who did PG and BT (Bachelor of Teaching, now B.Ed) who passed away in 2019 at the age of 97 years.

From 2013 till 2022, 80 teachers have been awarded and the Foundation plans to extend the awards now to government schools all over the country, he added.

एमएमएम फाउंडेशन के अध्यक्ष मनोज सिंघल ने बताया कि मालती ज्ञानपीठ पुरस्कार एमएमएस फाउंडेशन द्वारा 2013 में स्वर्गीय मालती मोहिन्दर सिंह सिंघल की स्मृति में स्कूली शिक्षा में उत्कृष्ट को पहचानने और प्रोत्साहित करने की दिशा में स्थापित किया गये थे। मालती मोहिन्दर सिंह एक विख्यात शिक्षाविद, महिला सशक्तिकरण की अगुवाई करने वाली और पंजाब की पहली महिलाओं में से एक थी जिन्होंने पीजी और बीटी (बैच्यूलर आॅफ टीचिंग, अब बीएड) किया था और जिनका निधन 97 वर्ष की आयु में वर्ष 2019 में हुआ।
 
वर्ष 2013 से 2022 तक  80 अध्यापकों को पुरस्कृत किया जा चुका है और फाऊंडेशन अपनी योजना के तहत इस पुरस्कारों को विस्तार देश भर के सरकारी स्कूलों तक कर रही है।
 
एमएमएम फाउंडेशन के सचिव तेज मैगजीन ने बताया कि पुरस्कारों के इस संस्करण के लिये पंजाब और हरियाणा के हायर सेकेंडरी स्कूलों के टीचरों और लेक्चरर के नामांकन आमंत्रित किये थे। उन्होंनें बताया कि 11 सदस्यों की ज्यूरी की अध्यक्षता एमएम आटो इंडस्ट्रीज के सीएमडी मनोज सिंघल थे जबकि ज्यूरी मैंबर्स में पूर्व मुख्य चुनाव आयुक्त बीबी टंडन (आईएएस), बद्दी स्थित महाराजा अग्रसेन युनिवर्सिटी के चांसलर डाॅ नंद किशोर गर्ग, धर्मशाला स्थित सेंट्रल युनिवर्सिटी आॅफ एचपी के वाईस चांसलर प्रोफेसर एसपी बंसल, चंडीगढ़ स्थित पंजाब युनिवर्सिटी के पूर्व वीसी प्रोफेसर अरुण के ग्रोवर, एसीएस और वित्त आयुक्त राजस्व राजेश खुल्लर (आईएएस), भारत सरकार के श्रम आयुक्त मनमेश सिंह सिद्धू (आईएएस), गोवा के पूर्व डीजीपी बीएस बराड़ (आईपीएस), डेंटल ऐसोसियेशन आॅफ इंडिया के पूर्व अध्यक्ष डाॅ अनिल कोहली, एमएएम आॅटो इंडस्ट्रीज की निदेशक रुबी जैन और ऐडवोकेट सिकंदर लाल शामिल थे।

ਮਾਲਤੀ ਗਿਆਨਪੀਠ  ਪੁਰਸਕਾਰ   2023 ਦਾ ਐਲਾਨ

ਪੁਰਸਕਾਰ ਲਈ ਚੁਣੇ ਗਏ ਪੰਜ ਅਧਿਆਪਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਇੱਕ-ਇੱਕ ਲੱਖ ਰੁਪਏ ਦਾ ਇਨਾਮ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ।

ਚੰਡੀਗੜ੍ਹ, ਭੌਤਿਕ ਵਿਗਿਆਨ, ਰਸਾਇਣ ਵਿਗਿਆਨ, ਗਣਿਤ, ਅੰਗਰੇਜ਼ੀ ਅਤੇ ਸਮਾਜਿਕ ਵਿਗਿਆਨ ਵਿਸ਼ਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਪੰਜ ਅਧਿਆਪਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ  ਮਾਲਤੀ ਗਿਆਨਪੀਠ ਪੁਰਸਕਾਰ 2023 ਨਾਲ ਸਨਮਾਨਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ। ਇਹ ਪੁਰਸਕਾਰ 2013 ਤੋਂ  ਸਕੂਲਾਂ ਦੇ  ਹੁਨਰਮੰਦ  ਅਧਿਆਪਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਾਨਦਾਰ ਨਿਵੇਕਲੇ ਯੋਗਦਾਨ ਲਈ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ। ਪੁਰਸਕਾਰ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਜੀਐਸਐਸ ਸਮਾਰਟ ਸਕੂਲ ਲੁਧਿਆਣਾ ਦੇ ਰੋਮੀ ਆਹੂਜਾ ਅਤੇ ਹਰਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਕੌਰ, ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਸੰਗਰੂਰ ਦੇ ਜੀਐਸਐਸ ਖੰਡੇਬਾਦ ਦੇ ਰਾਕੇਸ਼ ਕੁਮਾਰ ਅਤੇ  ਜੀਐਸਐਸ ਸਕੂਲ, ਮੇਹਲਣ  ਦੇ ਮਨਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਅਤੇ ਜੈਨ ਭਾਰਤੀ ਮ੍ਰਿਗਾਵਤੀ ਵਿਦਿਆਲਿਆ, ਨਵੀਂ ਦਿੱਲੀ ਦੀ ਸੋਮਦੱਤ ਭੱਟਾਚਾਰੀਆ ਸ਼ਾਮਲ ਹਨ।

ਪ੍ਰਕਿਰਿਆ ਦੇ ਹਿੱਸੇ ਵਜੋਂ, ਫਾਊਂਡੇਸ਼ਨ ਨੇ  ਨੋਮੀਨੇਸ਼ਨ  ਨੂੰ ਸੱਦਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ  ਸਕਰੂਟਿਨੀ   ਕੀਤੀ, ਜਿਸ ਵਿੱਚ 23 ਅਧਿਆਪਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਅੰਤਿਮ ਦੌਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਸ਼ਾਰਟਲਿਸਟ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ। ਸ਼ਨੀਵਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਪੀ.ਐੱਚ.ਡੀ.ਹਾਊਸ, ਸੈਕਟਰ 31 ਵਿਖੇ ਜਿਊਰੀ ਪੈਨਲ ਦੀ ਹਾਜ਼ਰੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਫਾਈਨਲ ਰਾਊਂਡ ਵਿੱਚ ਲਿਖਤੀ ਟੈਸਟ, ਇੰਟਰਵਿਊ ਅਤੇ ਫਾਈਨਲ ਇੰਟਰਵਿਊ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਜੇਤੂਆਂ ਦਾ ਐਲਾਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ।
 ਜੇਤੂਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਕੇਰਲ ਦੇ ਰਾਜਪਾਲ ਆਰਿਫ਼ ਮੁਹੰਮਦ ਖ਼ਾਨ ਅਤੇ ਸੰਸਦ ਮੈਂਬਰ ਮੇਨਕਾ ਸੰਜੇ ਗਾਂਧੀ  29 ਮਈ ਨੂੰ ਨਵੀਂ ਦਿੱਲੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੋਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਇੱਕ ਸ਼ਾਨਦਾਰ ਸਮਾਗਮ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਸਨਮਾਨਿਤ ਕਰਨਗੇ। ਇਸ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਹਰੇਕ ਜੇਤੂ ਨੂੰ ਇੱਕ ਲੱਖ ਰੁਪਏ, ਸਨਮਾਨ ਚਿੰਨ੍ਹ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਸ਼ੰਸਾ ਪੱਤਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ।

ਐਮਐਮਐਮ ਫਾਊਂਡੇਸ਼ਨ ਦੇ  ਪ੍ਰੇਜੀਡੇਂਟ  ਮਨੋਜ ਸਿੰਘਲ ਨੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਮਾਲਤੀ ਗਿਆਨਪੀਠ ਅਵਾਰਡਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਥਾਪਨਾ ਐਮਐਮਐਸ ਫਾਊਂਡੇਸ਼ਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ 2013 ਵਿੱਚ ਸਵਰਗੀ ਮਾਲਤੀ ਮਹਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਦੀ ਯਾਦ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਕੂਲੀ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਵਿੱਚ ਉੱਤਮਤਾ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਨਤਾ ਦੇਣ ਅਤੇ ਉਤਸ਼ਾਹਿਤ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ ਸੀ। ਮਾਲਤੀ ਮਹਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ, ਇੱਕ ਪ੍ਰਸਿੱਧ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਸ਼ਾਸਤਰੀ, ਮਹਿਲਾ ਸਸ਼ਕਤੀਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਮੋਢੀ ਅਤੇ ਪੀਜੀ ਅਤੇ ਬੀਟੀ (ਬੈਚਲਰ ਆਫ਼ ਟੀਚਿੰਗ, ਹੁਣ ਬੀ.ਐੱਡ) ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੀ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੀਆਂ ਪਹਿਲੀਆਂ ਔਰਤਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਇੱਕ  ਸੀ  ਜਿਨਾਂ੍ਹ ਦਾ ਦਾ ਸਾਲ 2019 ਵਿੱਚ 97 ਸਾਲ ਦੀ ਉਮਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਦਿਹਾਂਤ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ।
 
2013 ਤੋਂ 2022 ਤੱਕ, 80 ਅਧਿਆਪਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਨਮਾਨਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਫਾਊਂਡੇਸ਼ਨ ਦੀ ਯੋਜਨਾ ਦੇਸ਼ ਭਰ ਦੇ ਸਰਕਾਰੀ ਸਕੂਲਾਂ ਤੱਕ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਪੁਰਸਕਾਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵਧਾਉਣ ਦੀ ਹੈ।

Two days Conference on endocrinology concludes.
 

Chandigarh, 16 Apr:  The two-days medical conference named EPIC (Empower Physicians with International Practices in advanced Diabetes Care), concluded here today with a motivational keynote by the Padma Bhushan Olympian Abhinav Bindra.

Abhinav shared his life's journey and how the sports changed his outlook towards life with various facets of life and character that helped him develop better self-respect, self-discipline, and self-confidence, and more importantly overcome the fear of failure.

One learns to listen to one's coach and other experts and self-analyse one's strengths and weaknesses, and hone the ability to stay in the moment, focussed and determined, through regular practice, he said, which everyone should try to be the best and get better than yesterday.

Abhinav responded to the doctors' queries on stress, and anxiousness, he said that all conflicts emerge within and it is only through the practice of staying focussed on the moment to accomplish what one wants to do can make a difference.

When asked about the absence of more sportspeople winning medals for the country, Abhinav said that we need to develop a culture of sports with everyone happily participating in games joyfully, and celebrating it, which would encourage more youth to excel for better performance.

Abhinav Bindra along with EPIC's organizing chairman Dr. Sanjay Kalra and secretary Dr. Sachin Mittal conferred Lifetime Achievement Award on two stalwarts in the field of endocrinology,   Dr. B. S. Bhatia, Prof. Sarita Bajaj, for their contribution in the field.

Earlier the medical sessions covered various aspects of diabetic patients, wherein the cardiologists Dr. HK Bali, Dr Puneet Verma, Dr Rajneesh Mittal, Dr. Soumik Goswami, Dr. Anil Dhall, Dr. Neeraj Bhalla and Dr. Dilip Bhalla, underlined the need for early detection, prevention and treatment of cardio-renal damage to

Dr. Akshata Desai, Dr. Gurpreet Singh, Dr Mani Kant Singla, Dr Savita Kapila, Dr JK Mokta, Do Soham Mukherjee looked at the practical challenges and solutions in the use of insulin for diabetic patients.

The conference concluded with a session on Work-Life balance by ex-IAS, author, and TEDx speaker Vivek Atray, who touched upon physical and mental fitness by advising patients to follow creative pursuits and manage their anger and stress through regular meditation, essential to managing the lifestyle disease like diabetes and obesity.

Dr. Sachin Mittal, organising secretary, said that sensitization of general practitioners towards newer developments in endocrinology was essential and also how different organs affected by diabetes need to be taken care of at an early stage.

The city is getting obese; Doctors express concern

Two days Conference on endocrinology begins today.

 

Chandigarh, The two-days medical conference named EPIC (Empower Physicians with International Practices in advanced Diabetes Care), opened at Hyatt Regency here today.

Organised by Sweet Diabetes Foundation under the aegis of Punjab Medical Council, with nearly 400 general physicians participating with expert endocrinologists from across the country shared the newer dimensions in diabetes care and management.

The conference began with a colloquium on gynaecology and diabetes issue IN which Dr. Yash Bala President of COGS, Dr Gagan Priya, Dr Emmy Grewal, Dr Sarita Bajaj, Dr. Sameer Aggarwal, Dr. Tejal Lathia, Dr Rama Walia, amongst other shared perspective into puberty, thyroid dysfunction, and pregnancy.

In another session, Dr. Lakshmi Negendra, Dr Meenakshi Verma, Dr. Vipan Talwar,  Dr. Rajat Gupta, Dr. Mathur Verma, Dr. Sachin Mittal, Dr. Saptsrishi Bhattacharya, expressed concern over growing obesity amongst all age groups including children, which further complicates the management of diabetes.

EPIC organizing secretary Dr. Sachin Mittal,  said that as per the Indian Council of Medical Research, Chandigarh has the highest prevalence of 13.6% compared to rest of the country (11.8%), especially at a time when diabetes has already reached an epidemic proportion with India becoming the Diabetes Capital of the world.
