Rotary Club Chandigarh to fight Alzheimer Dementia

Rotary Club of Chandigarh to lead Alzheimer Dementia in northern region 
The 4th chapter of the Rotary Action Group to fight Alzheimer Dementia in the northern region was opened here today at Rotary Club of Chandigarh. 
The chairman of the Rotary Action Group for Alzheimer Dementia in India, Wg Cdr DP Sabharwal of Bengaluru and President of Rotary Club of Bangalore Cantonment Vinod John informed that 4 million people in India suffer from dementia and there is dire need for generating awareness in the country. 
Past Rotary International President Rajendra K Saboo officially inaugurated the 4th chapter of ADRAG and said that it would be a great support to the patients and families in the region. 
Rtn Ajay Madan, District Governor 3080 said that every club in the District in the area of the District comprising Chandigarh, Panjab, Haryana, Himachal, UP and Utrakhand, shall be engaged in this much-needed project for the benefit of the society. 
President Jaspal Sidhu assured that a massive awareness campaign shall be launched in Chandigarh. 
Rtn past president Amrit Pal Singh has been assigned to lead the campaign in the entire District 3080.

आज चंडीगढ़ में रोटरी एक्शन ग्रुप फॉर अल्जाइमर डिमेंशिया ने दक्षिण भारत में रोटरी क्लब चंडीगढ़ के चैप्टर का आगाज़ किया.
पूर्व रोटरी  इंटरनेशनल प्रेजिडेंट राजेंद्र कुमार साबू ने डिस्ट्रिक्ट ३०८० को अडॉप्ट करने हेतु इस प्रोग्राम को
डिस्ट्रिक्ट ३०८०  में आधिकारिक तौर पर कार्यक्रम का शुभारंभ किया
रोटरी एक्शन ग्रुप के विंग डीपी सभरवाल ने बताया कि रोटरी क्लब ऑफ चंडीगढ़ चंडीगढ़, पंजाब, हरियाणा, हिमाचल प्रदेश, यूपी और उत्तराखंड के रोटरी डिस्ट्रिक्ट 3080 में अभियान की अगुवाई करेगा।
बैंगलोर छावनी रोटरी के अध्यक्ष विनोद जॉन जहां एडीआरएजी का पहला अध्याय स्थापित किया गया था, ने बताया कि भारत में 4 मिलियन लोग अल्जाइमर से पीड़ित हैं और इसे जागरूकता और पुनर्वास की आवश्यकता है।
रोटरी डिस्ट्रिक्ट 3080 के गवर्नर अजय मदान ने कहा कि रोटरी क्लब चंडीगढ़ के आरटीएन अमृत पाल सिंह कमेटी के अध्यक्ष के नेतृत्व में क्षेत्रवार अभियान चलाया जाएगा.
रोटरी क्लब चंडीगढ़ के अध्यक्ष जसपाल सिद्धू ने कहा कि बड़ी संख्या में रोगी मनोभ्रंश से पीड़ित हैं और हम जल्द से जल्द पता लगाने के लिए जागरूकता कार्यक्रम शुरू करने की पूरी कोशिश करेंगे।

Literati21 Concludes

Literati21 concluded with the online digital version in the evening. In the 15 sessions over 35 authors participated, including Jim Davidson from Colorado, and   Parinda Joshi from the USA,  Shubendra from UAE  and Kishwar Desai joined from London, UK.

The evening online virtual session of Literati21 brought the curtain down to the two-days event .

The US based management professional and University teacher Dr. Raza Mir's latest book "Murder at the Mushaira" was the focus of discussion with Resident Editor of Indian Express Manraj Grewal Sharma. 

Manraj brought out the exquisite dimensions of Raza Mir's own personality and his deep knowledge of Urdu poetry that is so beautifully intertwined with a murder mystery, the intriguing characters in the backdrop of Indian mutiny. 

Talking about the tradition of mushaira, Urdu language, and rich contribution of Ghalib, whom he called the Indian Shakespeare, Raza Mir said that his inspiration for this historic fiction had been his love for history, Urdu language and the intriguing plots of Agatha Christie.

Raza Mir said that Ghalib as an exponent of Urdu language was ahead of his time and experimented with the medium including the newly introduced postal system by the British which he used extensively by writing letters.

CLS Chairperson Dr Sumita Misra decoded the enigma called Devika Rani with the author of recent book on her by Kishwar Desai, who joined from London.

A multifaceted personality, author, founder of Partition Museum and a Global Ambassador, Kishwar has recently published, "The Longest Kiss; The Life and Times of Devika Rani" after much research and travels across the globe to collect nuggets of information till she stumbled upon bag fulls of original documents and her letters to her husband that resulted in the book that revealed her fame as the first lady of Indian cinema being the co-founder of major film studio called Bombay Talkies.

Devika suffered much violence at home and yet she had a firm belief in herself and was able to setup a thriving studio, and she disclosed that book would hit the big screen too soon.

In another session Swati Bhadoria talking to Delhi based author and filmmaker shared hard facts of emotional wellbeing by finding peace with our inner self.  In her recent book, "Hinge" Vandana Kohli said that many incidents and behavior of others leaves us with anger and angst, and the unanswered perennial question "why me?" that leaves one mentally disturbed and fractured, need to be understood and managed.  She talked about how one can balance one's life through tools that can bring peace and avoid extremes.

Shubendru joined from Dubai and shared insight into his historic-fiction, " Sultan : The Legend of Hyder Ali ", which emerged through painstaking research, travelling, and going through 200 years old military records and archives.

The concluding session, Anshuman Arora interviewed Jim Dadvidson, an adventurist, mountaineer and an environmental geologist who survived a 7.8 magnitude earthquake in the Himalayas while he was on Camp One in 2015 to Mount Everest, shared his real life adventure which he has published in his memoir, "The Next Everest: Surviving the Mountain's Deadliest Day and Finding the Resilience to Climb Again".

Literati21 opens on 11th December with digital sessions

Sunday sessions will be at the UT Guest House


The first day of Literati21 shall be a mix of bureaucracy to Bollywood, cuisines to humour to pathos of partition, with its online sessions which can be accessed on Chandigarh Literary Society's social media handles on Facebook and YouTube @clschandigarh.


Pandemic has given the writers a lot of time to look within and into the diverse aspects of life, and have come out with writings that spell hope, which Literati21 celebrates this year, said CLS Chairperson Dr Sumita Misra.


The Sahitya Akademic Award winner for English Literature and her novels extensively feature Jewish life, culture and cuisine in India, Esther David's latest book, "Bene Appetit: Cuisine of Indian Jews" shall be focus of the discussion with equally prolific writer Lily Swarn.


Two brilliant bureaucrats who have received accolade for their remarkable contribution to the policy making process, and are authors of some of the best-seller non-fictions, Anil Swarup and Deepak Gupta shall be exchanging notes with former Resident Editor of Indian Express Vipin Pubby.


Vivek Atray, the former IAS officer, author and speaker would be in conversation with Rakeysh Omparkash Mehra, the brilliant Bollywood writer, director of Rang De Basanti, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, Aks and Delhi-6 fame, in the session based on his book, "The Stranger in the Mirror".

 

Punjab's partition is an unforgettable episode in the life of the people in the north, and the session on Uprooted: The Aftermatch of Punjab's Partition, shall feature Ludhiana-based psychiatrist and author of two books on partition, Anirudh Kala, and Manreet Sodhi Someshwar, author of 'Lahore: the Partition Trilogy" shall be in conversation with Jupinderjit Singh


The day would culminate with RJ Mehak quizzing San Francisco based best-selling prolific author novelist Parinda Joshi, whose third novel 'Made in China' has been adapted into a feature film by Maddock Films starring Rajkummar Rao and Boman Irani.


On Sunday, the Literati21 shall be having their morning sessions at the UT Guest House, Chandigarh.
