Your childhood holds the key to your mental wellness today: Dr Priya Saklani

The Wounded Healer by Dr Priya Saklani released

Debut book of Dr Priya Saklani, "The Wounded Healer", the memoirs of a child sexual abuse survivor was released here today by Monica Bhatia, IRS, former head of OECD Global Forum on Transparency & Exchange of Information for Tax Purposes, at a function organised by Chandigarh Literary Society (CLS) at UT Guest House.

Dr. Saklani, who was abandoned by her parents as an unwanted child when born in Dagshai and handed over to the maid, her trauma started.
"I had only one friend – fear", she recalls her childhood days and the trauma of constant sexual abuse she underwent for 19 years.

She took up the courage and spilled out her fears and her 'dark days' into her book 'The Wounded Healer' as a process of healing herself as also to inspire others victims of such abuse to emerge more strong and courageous as she could muster her life to live again.

As a holistic healer, and doctorate in the subject from US, Priya continued to feel the pain of her traumatic childhood,

Later CLS member, TEDx speaker and crusader of 'End Incest' conversed with Priya about her journey of writing and shared the pain of hundreds of people she has come across during her campaign to generate awareness about the incest in the society.

There are numerous untold stories of incest that abound in our society and remain unreported, Supreet lamented.

When asked about her happy moments Priya said that the most joyous moments are the one she spends with the animals, both pet and wild, as an animal healer, the concept she has introduced in the country, and is deeply engaged in it.

Supreet Dhiman commended Priya's strength and courage of spirit for rising from the ashes like a phoenix.
The Wounded Healer - A memoir of Priya Saklani, details a compelling and ferocious insight into a mind and life of a victim of complex trauma, demonstrating just how childhood affects every aspect of your life.
An unflinching, alarmingly honest tale of ones survival through the  battle with the abuse caused by the ones who brought her in to this world .
