Dr. Sanghi's team tops the chart in Bridge Championship


On the second day of the 10th Steel Strips Open Bridge Championship, eight teams have qualified for the finals tomorrow.

The team of Bridge players of Dr Sanghi (Delhi, Mumbai, Patna) topped the chart with 107.14, with Pritisha Da (Kolkata-Mumbai) scored 100.80, Steel Strips Group (96.83), ASMA of Delhi (85.56), Punjab Bridge Association Team 2 (83.97),  Slammers Kolkata-Delhi (83.84),  Maya Mera Sneha of Kolkata-Delhi (82.27), DABS of Chandigarh (67.08).

Many stalwarts of the game including several of those who represented India in various international events included Asian Games 2018 Gold Medal winner S.N. De Sarkar from Kolkata, Subhash Gupta and Rajeshwar Tiwari from New Delhi; Jagi Sivdasan from Mumbai, Pritish Kushari from Kolkata, J.M. Shah of Mumbai, Swarnendu Banerji from Kolkata, T.C. Pant, Joint Secretary of the Bridge Federation of India, amongst others.

Maya Mera Sneha wins the Bridge Championship


Steel Strips Group team emerges runners-up
Chandigarh, 18 May: Maya Mera Sneha team of four from Kolkata-Delhi bagged the 10th Steel Strips Open Bridge Championship which concluded here today.
Though positioned at sixth position after the qualifiers in Swiss League, the Maya Mera Sneha  team comprising Sunil Bhatia, Sukamal Das, Satyabrata Mukh and Avijit Chakrabarty, after seven rounds of 10 boards in the Super League, scored 96.96 to top the board and won the championship.
The Steel Strips Group team of Subhash Gupta, Arun Bapat, Rajeshwar Tiwari and Jaggy Shivdasani, scored 87.83 to be the runners-up.
From amongst the pairs, the pair of Anil Bharihoke and M.R. Goel were the winners scoring 863.84, while pair of Vijay Kumar and PC Gupta were runners up with a score of 816.78.
The Best Ladies pair was of Kusum Chadha and Manju Bhasin, while the Best Pair of Chandigarh was of J.K. Sama and H.S. Khurana.
Prize money of Rs.2 lakh in all was disbursed to the winners and the top eight positions.
Chairman of Steel Strips Group R.K. Garg gave away the prizes along with the President of Chandigarh Bridge Association (CBA) H.S. Dhariwal.
The tournament committee also recognized the services of the Registered Tournament Directors of the Bridge Federation of India, Sanjay Chakraborty and M.L. Panghotra along with T.C.Pant and Col. Govinder Singh who supervised the technical conduct of the championship.

आज  चंडीगढ़ में १०वी स्टील स्ट्रिप्स ओपन ब्रिज चैंपियनशिप होटल हयात रीजेंसी में सम्पन हुई. 


स्विस लीग के क्वालीफ़ायर राउंड्स में आठ टीमों में से, माया मेरा स्नेहा जो के छठे स्थान पर थी, सुपर लीग १० बोर्ड्स को सात राउंड्स के बाद ९६.९६ के सकोरे के बाद विजय रही.

सुनील भटिआ, सुकमल दस, सत्यब्रत मुख व् अविजित चक्रबर्ती इस टीम के चार सदस्य थे। 


दूसरे स्थान पर स्टील स्ट्रिप्स ग्रुप की टीम जिसमें सुभाष गुप्ता, अरुण बापट, राजेश्वर तिवारी, व् जग्गी शिवदासन ने ८७.८३ स्कोर हासिल किया. 

पेयर्स  (जोड़ियों) की केटेगरी में अनिल भारिहोके और एम। आर। गोयल की जोड़ी 863.84 स्कोर करने वाली विजेता रही, जबकि विजय कुमार और पीसी गुप्ता की जोड़ी 816.78 के स्कोर के साथ उपविजेता रही।


बेस्ट लेडीज की जोड़ी (पेयर्स)  कुसुम चड्ढा और मंजू भसीन की थी, जबकि जे.के. साम और एच.एस. खुराना चंडीगढ़ की बेस्ट जोड़ी करार दी गयी. 

इस टूर्नामेंट में २ लाख की प्राइज मनी खिलाड़िओं को वितरित की गयी.

Large gathering at BJP public meetings



On the last day of election campaigning BJP Chandigarh organized two public meetings; one at Aggarwal Bhavan sector 30 in the leadership of Anup Gupta and other at Pushpak Complex in the leadership of Heera Negi. BJP Chandigarh president Sanjay Tandon participated in both the public meetings and interacted with gathered people.    
  

Addressing the people on the occasion, Sanjay described all the achievements of the government under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi. He also described various developmental works carried out in Chandigarh in the tenure of MP Kiron Kher which included resolution of sewage problems, starting work to ensure 24 hours water supply, approving a flyover over Tribune Chowk to decongest traffic, etc. He said, the work done in the last five years in Chandigarh during the tenure of BJP government has been unprecedented. He added, Kiron not only raised questions in the parliament but made sure the schemes launched by the government were implemented at the ground level.



 
He appealed to all citizens of the city to support the party so that the development of the country and Chandigarh can continue unabated. He said he is confident that like the last time, this time also the people of Chandigarh will make sure Kiron wins with huge.

BJP Unveils 5-Year Chandigarh Development Roadmap












Chandigarh presented to the people of Chandigarh the development plan of Chandigarh for next five years. BJP Chandigarh President Sanjay Tandon and BJP MP candidate from Chandigarh Kiron Kher formally unveiled the development roadmap for Chandigarh in a press conference at the party office Kamalam.

In the manifesto launched by BJP Chandigarh, the party promised to complete several development projects for Chandigarh. Some of these promises include Mono-rail project for Chandigarh, Regularization of changes to the houses, one time settlement of all issues related to Chandigarh Housing Board houses, ensuring 24 hours water supply, preference to Chandigarh residents for jobs in Chandigarh, resolving all parking problems, implementation of 6th pay commission, a dispensary in every ward, bringing all dispensaries under one management, beautification of all markets of UT, allowing first floor on booths, and approving box type structure for SCF.

Apart from above, the Chandigarh will be developed as a tourism hub education hub and IT hub, providing free wi-fi in all markets of UT, removing dumping grounds from DadduMajra, getting electricity wires underground, increase in number of houses allotted to the journalists, providing insurance and pension scheme for senior journalists, construction of a convention centre, fill all empty posts, allotting deadlines to all projects, and rationalising the cost of houses for government employees.

On the occasion, Sanjay Tandon said, BJP MP have always been dedicated to service of the residents of Chandigarh and will remain dedicated in future too. He said, the main objective of the party is make sure all required amenities are available to the residents and every last person in the queue get benefits of all the government schemes. He added, KironKher has been striving to achieve all this for last 5 years and will continue to do so. BJP has tried to bring in better governance with increased participation of public. In future, too, we will further improve the governance and get rid of any corruption. He acclaimed the members of committee – Kailash Chand Jain, YudhvirSharda, DhirenderTayal, who drafted the manifesto.

10th Steel Strips Open Bridge Championship opens tin Chandigarh on 16th May

Chandigarh Bridge Association (CBA) is hosting the 10th Steel Strips Open Bridge Championship in the city from 16-18 May.

Mr. H.S. Dhariwal, President, CBA informed that more than 30 teams comprising five to six players each, are expected to participate in this three days national open Bridge championship at Hyatt Regency in Chandigarh.

The national and international teams from various states of India including Punjab, Haryana, Uttrakhand, UP, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Delhi, Rajasthan and Chandigarh, have confirmed their participation, he said.

The team events in the championship will comprise of eight rounds of Swiss League of 10 boards per round to be played on May 16 and 17, while the  top eight teams will play super league on May 17 and 18.

The pairs event will consist of three sessions and will be played on 17-18 May, and eight teams and eight pairs will be awarded prizes.

Chandigarh Open has been a major attraction since its inception in 2000. The scale of participation and the intensity of competition has been increasing every year indicating the growing popularity of the fascinating intellectual game called Bridge

Besides the annual world tournaments, it is a part of the Asian games where India teams have won prizes.
